Patterned fabrics – Whether we’re talking about bedspreads, curtains, cushions or rugs, a lot of the textiles and fabrics used in interior design this year have been printed in bright and vivid patterns. Geometric, animal and graphic prints, stripes and patterns have all proved popular and effective in adding a bit of vibrant interest in our rooms in 2013. Natural materials – As we are becoming more eco-friendly and environmentally aware as a nation we are also becoming more interested in the way our furniture is made and the materials it is made from. Natural materials that have been sourced from sustainable suppliers and furniture made from locally sourced wood have been popular in 2013.
Industrial lighting – Industrial lighting gives any room an edgy feel and works brilliantly when used in contrast to neutral colours and soft furnishings. Industrial lighting can be used in a variety of different settings in your home including desktop lamps in an office, pendant lamps over the dining table, wall lamps in the bedroom or floor lamps in the living room. Industrial lights are often upcycled and come in a range of metal finishes from rusty and antique to modern shiny chrome.
